Marg McJannett

Chief Executive Officer

Margaret's background is in oncology nursing. She has worked as a clinical nurse consultant at The Sydney Melanoma Unit, research coordinator in the Medical Psychology Research Unit, Sydney University and project officer at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research in Brisbane. She was the EO of the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia (COSA) and Cancer Council Australia before joining ANZUP. She has facilitated and contributed to COSA's and CCA's expert committees, the national Cancer Co-operative Clinical Trials Groups and COSA's collaborative role with key stakeholders.


Nisha Rana 

Clinical Trials Project Manager

Nisha Rana has an extensive background in Clinical Trials management and operations. Hailing from the UK, Nisha started her career in the clinical setting as a biomedical scientist and soon found herself working as a research scientist.

Passionate about delivering ground breaking research from the laboratory bench to the patient’s bedside quicker (translational research), Nisha was keen to hang up her lab coat and move into Clinical Trials management.

Although having worked in a research management capacity in a host of Therapeutic Areas (TA) including: Respiratory, Oncology, Mental Health, Emergency & Critical Care, Cardiovascular and Musculoskeletal medicine; Nisha still considers herself a scientist and first and foremost, a patient! Still actively involved in developing research processes to streamline Clinical Trial set-up and running as well as managing the handling of research biological samples as part of the greater translational research efforts of ANZUP.

Nima Amatya 

Database and Administration Coordinator 

Nima’s role includes maintenance, coordination and administration of ANZUP’s clinical trials, membership and donor / stakeholder databases. She brings broad experience in administrative processes and data management, including six years in a number of roles at the Mary MacKillop Foundation. She is originally from beautiful Kathmandu in Nepal, however she is well travelled and did her schooling in Hong Kong and tertiary years in Delhi, India.  She and her family moved to Australia in 2010.

Lucy Byers 

Marketing and Communications Manager

Lucy has worked in strategic and operational marketing positions for over 15 years, managing all aspects of marketing including events, communications, sponsorship, digital and branding activities in a variety of industries including healthcare, property, not for profit, education, design and events. 

Lucy holds a Bachelor Degree in Communications and Advanced Diploma in Business and Marketing. 

Joining the ANZUP team in May 2016, Lucy brings with her extensive experience in increasing awareness and engagement for organisations and driving acquisition strategies to deliver outstanding results. 

Abigail Gatling 

Digital Marketing Specialist 

Abigail (Abi) joined the ANZUP team in August 2019. 

Abi most recently comes from Queensland University of Technology in sunny Brisbane, where she has been managing industry partnerships, events and communications. She has previously worked with AHPRA and the Asthma Foundation. 


Julijana Trifunovic 

Head of Partnerships & Engagement

Julijana (Joolz) has joined the ANZUP team to lead fundraising and philanthropy initiatives. Joolz has been fundraising for almost 25 years and has helped raise over $32 million for numerous not for profits including the Children’s Medical Research Institute and ANZGOG more recently. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role.

Nicole Tankard 

Internal Communications and Project Manager

Nicole has over 15 years’ communications experience, and has worked across a range of industries including financial services, professional services, telecommunications and energy. Nicole holds a Bachelor Degree in Communications majoring in Public Relations and Marketing and joined ANZUP in 2019.


Gillian Bailey

Marketing and Communications Officer

Prior to joining the ANZUP team, Gillian spent 12 years living and working in London. For 10 years she worked in healthcare communication agencies helping pharmaceutical firms develop and roll out events as well as marketing and educational materials. Prior to her return to Australia she was a Senior Communications Officer at The Department of Health, UK within the infection control team. 


Al Martin

Executive Assistant

Al joined the ANZUP team as Executive Assistant to the CEO in April 2019, with over 17 years of experience in practice management and medical/hospital administration. Following eight years in medical oncology working for the amazing Prof Eva Segelov, Al brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role at ANZUP.

Leslie Tinkler and Jo Stubbs


Leslie and Jo joined ANZUP as volunteers almost a decade ago. Their ongoing dedication and support to ANZUP has been vital. Their organisational skills, patience and assistance has continually helped with the successful delivery of projects and events.
